How OAU Zookeeper Was Killed By A Lion

On Monday, February 19, 2024, a veterinary technologist with the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Olabode Olawuyi, was killed by a lion at the school’s zoo.

The school’s spokesman, Abiodun Olarewaju who revealed that the late Olawuyi has overseen the Zoological garden for over a decade, stated that he was attacked in the afternoon when he was feeding the nine-year-old male lion and its mates in their den.

According to Olarewaju, other members of staff who were at the scene of the incident did everything within their power to rescue the late Olawuyi, but the said lion had already caused severe fatalities.

Meanwhile, the aggressive lion has been euthanized.
